Perez v. Boston Housing Authority decision finds the Boston Housing Authority in violation of the state sanitary code.

February 28, 1975

Boston Housing Court Judge Paul Garrity rules in favor of Mission Main public housing development resident Armando Perez and eight others, who brought suit on February 7, 1975. Judge Garrity orders the BHA to submit a rehabilitation plan to bring all apartments in the city’s 57 housing developments up to code. When the agency does not adhere to the plan, Garrity, by this time a Boston Superior court judge, places the agency in receivership in 1979.*
